چکیده

Dielectronic recombination (DR) is the dominant mode of recombination in magnetically confined fusion plasmas for intermediate to lowcharged ions of W. Complete, final-state resolved partial isonuclear W DR rate coefficient data is required for detailed collisional-radiative modelling for such plasmas in preparation for the upcoming fusion experiment ITER. To realize this requirement, we continue The Tungsten Project by presenting our calculations for tungsten ions W to W. As per our prior calculations for W to W, we use the collision package autostructure to calculate partial and total DR rate coefficients for all relevant core-excitations in intermediate coupling (IC) and configuration average (CA) using κ-averaged relativistic wavefunctions. Radiative recombination (RR) rate coefficients are also calculated for the purpose of evaluating ionization fractions. Comparison of our DR rate coefficients for W with other authors yields agreement to within 7-19% at peak abundance verifying the reliability of our method. Comparison of partial DR rate coefficients calculated in IC and CA yield differences of a factor ∼ 2 at peak abundance temperature, highlighting the importance of relativistic configuration mixing. Large differences are observed between ionization fractions calculated using our recombination rate coefficient data and that of Pütterich et al [Plasma Phys. and Control. Fusion 50 085016, (2008)]. These differences are attributed to deficiencies in the average-atom method used by the former to calculate their data. Submitted to: J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Phys. DR rate coefficients for W to W 2

Electron-Ion Recombination Rate Coefficients and Photoionization Cross Sections for Astrophysically Abundant Elements VIII. Ar XIII with new features

Ar XIII is found to be unique with new features in electron-ion recombination not seen in any other ion. The ion has been studied with the unified method which provides a theoretically self-consistent set of atomic parameters for the inverse processes of photoionization and total electron-ion recombination. Unified method subsumes both the radiative recombination (RR) and dielectronic recombina...

Experimental N v and Ne viii low - temperature dielectronic recombination rate coefficients

The dielectronic recombination rate coefficients of N v and Ne viii ions have been measured at a heavy-ion storage ring. The investigated energy ranges covered all dielectronic recombination resonances attached to 2s → 2p (∆n = 0) core excitations. The rate coefficients in a plasma are derived and parameterized by using a convenient fit formula. The experimentally derived rate coefficients are ...

DIELECTRONIC RECOMBINATION OF Fe 3p IONS: A KEY INGREDIENT FOR DESCRIBING X-RAY ABSORPTION IN ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEI

We have carried-out multi-configuration Breit–Pauli autostructure calculations for the dielectronic recombination (DR) of Fe – Fe ions. We obtain total DR rate coefficients for the initial ground-level which are an order of magnitude larger than those corresponding to radiative recombination (RR), at temperatures where Fe 3p (q = 2 − 6) ions are abundant in photoionized plasmas. The resultant t...
